Iron Man enthusiasts have to wait for a few more months to get their hands on the PlayStation VR exclusive. It was originally slated for release on February 28 but the developer Camouflaj has announced that it will be delaying Iron Man VR for PlayStation 4. The launch date now has been pushed to May 15 when fans will be able to get their hands on the superhero simulator for $40 according to a Camouflaj statement issued on Twitter. This will constitute a three month wait before the game finally hits the shelves.

The game casts the player in the role of a robot-suited superhero with the gameplay based on flying around and shooting down enemies with the use of Iron Man’s repulsor gloves as well as various other weapons.

The story is of the superhero Tony Stark who has retired from making weapons until a villainous Ghost emerges who is deploying some of Stark’s old technology. Ghost is also deploying her hacking skills to take out the Stark Industries locations based around the world. Players will need to unveil Ghost’s motivation while at the same time protecting people that have been caught in the crossfire.

The game focuses on the upgrading of the Iron Man suit. All through the adventure, the player will be able to incorporate new features as well as customizations. Because Iron Man VR is PSVR-exclusive, players have to purchase the Sony headset, the cameras as well as two PlayStation Move controllers to immerse themselves into the experience.

Iron Man VR is one of the most anticipated PSVR games. It has generated a lot of interest ever since it was first teased.

The buzz is largely due to the concept of the game. Tony Shark is a special superhero who is smart, rich and witty. He also possesses technologically-advanced suits. Many enthusiasts have long wanted to be Iron Man which could be a recipe for success for the game. Players will use the PlayStation Move Controllers to fly through the clouds at supersonic speeds just like Iron Man. They will use their agility to dodge the enemies and then blast them with the hand cannons or dash in to deliver the killer blow.

This is why the delays will be frustrating for many Iron Man fans. However, they could be a blessing in retrospect. Delays generally cost the developing studios a lot of money and fans who have long waited for the launch are irked by the postponements. However, if delays let the studio perfect the gameplay elements in the title, it can be a good thing. Every virtual reality title comes with a lot of moving parts. A superhero game like Iron Man VR where the character flies around and shoots pulse lasers from hands and arms carries even greater complexity. It wouldn’t be in the studio’s interest to hurriedly push out the title before it is ready, garner lots of negative reviews and then make updates after the title has been launched with too many issues. Most developers are generally forced to hurriedly release titles because publishers impose strict deadlines on major projects.

For Iron Man VR, the three extra months of waiting could be worth it. In a recent update on Twitter, Camouflaj stated that they are planning to meet the exceptionally high expectations that many VR enthusiasts have placed on the title.

Iron Man VR has been available for pre-order for months. Both physical and the digital versions of the game are on sale.

Based on the trailers that have been released so far, the title is shaping up to be one of the big VR hits this year. Hopefully, the extra time will allow the developing studio to smooth out all the rough edges and perfect an already promising VR project.
