Nintendo Will Reportedly Fix Joy-Con Drift For Free And Refund Customers Who Paid

Following on from Nintendo’s statement yesterday, Vice Games has reportedly revealed internal documentation at the company is now instructing support service representatives to repair drifting Joy-Con for free and refund any customers who previously paid to have one of their faulty controllers fixed.

“Customers will no longer be requested to provide proof of purchase for Joy-Con repairs. Additionally it is not necessary to confirm warranty status. If a customer requests a refund for a previously paid Joy-Con repair […] confirm the prior repair and then issue a refund.”

The source who provided Vice with this information was familiar with Nintendo’s updated customer support documentation and wished to remain anonymous, as they have no authorisation to speak publically about the matter.

In yesterday’s update, Nintendo acknowledged the recent reports that “some Joy-Con controllers” were not responding correctly and advised any Switch users experiencing the issue to visit the support page for assistance.

At Nintendo, we take great pride in creating quality products and we are continuously making improvements to them. We are aware of recent reports that some Joy-Con controllers are not responding correctly. We want our consumers to have fun with Nintendo Switch, and if anything falls short of this goal we always encourage them to visit http://support.nintendo.com so we can help.
