Attention beer lovers: How would you like to become the head meme creator for one of the largest beer companies in the world — and get paid for it?
That’s right. Bud Light is hiring a chief meme officer to be in charge of meme-making activities for three months this fall, paying a sizable salary of $5,000 per month.
The company announced the first-ever position on social media.
We made a great-tasting hard seltzer but honestly our memes are terrible. Time to change that. Apply now to be our #ChiefMemeOfficer. It’s a real job with a salary.
Tag someone who would be perfect for the position.

The gig was created to generate buzz for Bud Light’s foray into alcoholic seltzer water. Reception to the fizzy water fell a little flat. That’s where you come in.
“We know a hard seltzer is only as good as its memes and, unfortunately, our memes are trash,” the job listing states. “We need someone who can change that for us; someone who can pull us out of the pits of cringe, someone who knows how to use the lasso thingy in Photoshop.”
As chief meme officer, you’ll need to create at least 10 memes per week, according to the listing. You’ll get paid in hard seltzer and hard cash. To qualify, you’ll probably need some lasso-thingy skills, and you’ll definitely need to be 21 or older.
How to Apply to Be Bud Light’s Chief Meme Officer
You can start the process on Bud Light’s application page. You’ll need to create at least one meme as part of your application, but you can include up to four. (Bonus points for posting them on social media using #ChiefMemeOfficer.)
If you’re not the greatest with Photshop, the company provides you with four meme templates to choose from.
Even if you don’t land the gig, your application enters you into a contest to win three months worth of Bud Light Seltzer (which is really just $120 in Venmo credit or a prepaid debit card per month).
You’re also required to answer “What’s your story?” in 300 words or less. While optional, we highly recommend including all of your handles to your TikTok, Instagram and Twitter accounts as the gig is all about social media. There’s also a space for a portfolio if you’d like to show off your previous meme work.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 18. Happy memeing.
